Her call on women to stand up against domestic violence went viral with over 9 million views in one week. The 3rd World Conference of Women’s Shelters is proud to announce Emma Murphy to be one of the speakers in November. Her story reflects the core of what the conference is all about. With Emma's presence she wants to raise awareness for domestic violence and violence against women.

"No man, has any right to put his hand to a woman. If a guy hits you, you gotta have the courage to walk away. Because if it happens once, it will happen again." - Emma Murphy

Last week 26 year old Emma Murphy from Dublin, Ireland, posted a video on Facebook in which she told her heartbreaking story. Her boyfriend has mistreated her both physically and mentally. She had the courage to walk away with her kids. In the video she calls out to other women in situations like hers to do the same and leave. In one-week time her pledge was heard and seen by 9.2 million people.

Example for women

Amazing result of Emma's bravery to step up and share her story, is the number of phone calls to Women's Aid in Ireland jumped by 48%. Simultaneously traffic to the agency’s website more than doubled, as victims of domestic violence sought information about what they could do.
